AirClic® is exclusive distributor of scanner for select Motorola mobile phones
NEWTOWN, Pa., March 8, 2005—AirClic, a leading provider of mobile process automation solutions, today announced the availability of the Motorola AC25 barcode scanner – a new scanning attachment designed specifically for Motorola’s mobile phones for iDEN® networks.
With the introduction of this new product, mobile businesses can realize the power of accurate and reliable bar-code scanning paired with extensive voice, data, and application capabilities of Java™ technology-enabled Motorola iDEN phones. And when integrated with the AirClic MP™, AirClic’s mobile process automation solution, mobile workers can accurately capture, transmit, and monitor events and transactions to easily, reliably, and cost-effectively automate mobile business processes.
This announcement continues to demonstrate Motorola's broad array of offerings to the enterprise, as well as small and medium size businesses across various industries -- empowering productivity, connectivity and performance for the mobile work force.
As a smaller replacement/upgrade for AirClic’s popular AC20 sled-attached scanner, the Motorola AC25 barcode scanner incorporates the Symbol© laser scanning engine and easily clips onto select existing Motorola iDEN phones such as the Motorola i58 and select upcoming iDEN phone models.
Other key features of the Motorola AC25 barcode scanner include:
Serial Port Connector—enables users to communicate with any computer equipped with a serial port, including portable printers
Extended Battery Support—the new design allows the use of larger extended-life batteries
Audio Pass-through—connect to car kit, charger, speakerphones
Charge While In Use—simultaneously charge the phone and use the scanning attachment
Equipped with the Motorola AC25 barcode scanner connected to a compatible Motorola phone, mobile workers can scan virtually any standard bar code -- SKUs, labels, packages, checkpoints, parts, and, most importantly, specially created bar codes that represent work tasks such as installation, delivery, or other processes. Once the scanner captures the barcode, the worker can use simple menus to step-through business processes and transmit that information to update a centralized AirClic server in real time, making the field data available for real-time query or back-office systems.
“With its modular design and enhanced capabilities, the Motorola AC25 barcode scanner is a breakthrough value-add, offering customers the unique opportunity to automate their mobile business processes and achieve unparalleled gains in productivity and visibility,” said Tim Bradley, chief executive officer for AirClic. “With this new product, companies can automate the most difficult business processes of all— those that take place beyond the four walls of their organizations.”
