Leader in Document Imaging Improves Service/Maintenance Business Process with Easily Deployed Mobile Solution
NEWTOWN, PA, June 5, 2006—AirClic®, a leading provider of business process mobilization solutions, announced today that Konica Minolta Business Solutions (KMBS) has mobilized its field service business processes through an AirClic solution to better track service worker resources and inventory. As a result, KMBS has been able to shorten service times, decrease inventory shrinkage and increase the breadth, accuracy and frequency of captured data.
Leveraging an existing relationship with Sprint Nextel Corp., KMBS has integrated AirClic MP and AirClic bar code scanning technology with already deployed Sprint Nextel wireless phones to gain real-time insight into the details of service calls performed by over 1,300 technicians working on office reproduction and printing equipment. By mobilizing its field service business processes, KMBS can track information associated with actual time spent on completing a service call, parts or supplies used and the status of every machine that is worked on.
"There were a number of mobile solutions on the market; however, none could map our existing field process as closely and be deployed as quickly and easily as AirClic," said Ed Hoyer, KMBS Director, National Customer Support. "User adoption was virtually immediate and the ability to rapidly make adjustments to the workflow has been invaluable. Our existing investment in Sprint continues to pay off with their partner recommendation of AirClic."
Using AirClic, KMBS has increased accuracy of inventory reporting and has drastically shortened the time for technicians to record this information – in some cases from eight hours to less than three hours. Additionally, the valuable service data captured by the AirClic solution was integrated into KMBS’ operational SAP system in less than two weeks. The solution is accessible from Sprint on Nextel wireless devices and operates on the Nextel National Network.
"KMBS recognizes that technology itself cannot run a business – only empower the people who run it," said Tim Bradley, CEO for AirClic. "Using the AirClic and Sprint solution, technicians can now do their job faster and more accurately report their progress. Management can easily exchange and track business activity at the precise time that it is happening. AirClic MP not only maximizes work flow information, efficiency and profitability, it also provides a better service to customers and a sense of empowerment to employees."
AirClic MP combines sophisticated application design tools, simple and inexpensive data-capture technology, and powerful back-end software for data aggregation, migration, reporting, and analysis.
